Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book?

You don’t need to book at The Hermit to enjoy our drinks. We do accept walk-ins for food if we are not full, but on busy days we do recommend you reserve a table using our online booking system or call to see how busy we are on 01943725246 .

We don’t reserve tables for the Sunday quiz but we will always find room to accommodate you.

Can I reserve a specific table?

We will always do our very best to seat you at a requested table but we can’t ever guarantee it (unless it's required for "access" purposes). The 300 year old Hermit building is somewhat of a jigsaw of rooms and tables and we do need to maximise the space to seat appropriate sized groups or families. This is especially true at busy times.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes! We love dogs. As long as your dog is well behaved they are allowed in the outside area and inside.

Do you still do doggy dinners?

Our kitchen team are focussed on producing freshly prepared home cooked food so we don’t provide doggy dinners anymore, but we do have dog water bowls and there is a complimentary doggy treat jar on the bar.

Do you have facilities for disabled guests?

Given the unique nature of the multi level 300 year old Hermit building we are really sorry to say that we can not offer a FULLY accessible experience to disabled guests.

We do have:

  • a disabled space in the car park

  • a wheelchair accessible tarmac ramp to the terraced seating area

  • level access to the gentleman’s toilets, (although it should be noted that the doors to the toilets are not 900mm wide so don’t accommodate a full size wheel chair).

We do not have:

  • a dedicated disabled toilet

  • a female toilet with level access to the car park - it is up two steps from the bar area.

Female disabled guests are welcome to use the gentlemen’s toilet whilst a member of The Hermit team ensure no gentlemen go inside (subject to the door width constraints outlined above). We know this is less than ideal and we do apologise. The pub building is a jigsaw of historic rooms built into the side of Rombold’s Moor, right on the corner of a busy road. Despite commissioning architects to look at the problem, no suitable solution has presented itself for a fully disabled toilet in this 300 year old pub.
